Ian Poulter was born January 10th, 1976 in Stevenage, England. He is the member of the world’s top two professional tours: the European Tour and the PGA Tour. He is one of the world’s most popular golfers. Poulter became the first golfer to win both the World Match Play and WGC-Accenture Match Play in May 2011.

Poulter, who splits time between his residences in Orlando and Buckinghamshire, England, still loves visiting his home country. He was born into a family of sports fanatics, and his father was an ardent golfer. His older brother, Daniel, is also a professional golfer. Poulter learned some techniques by playing golf with his brother.


Poulter got a job as a golf shop manager at Chesfield Downs Golf Club after he was incapable of getting membership at any professional golf club. He became professional at age 19 in 1996. The very first professional title that he won was an Open de Cote d’Ivoire in the year 1999 but his finishing in 2000 was not impressive. He was position 30th in the Order of Merit and he had to go to the Qualifying School to win back his Tour card. In 2000, he won Sir Henry Cotton Rookie award. He finished in the Top 10 for the Order of Merit 4 times.

He made the Ryder Cup team in 2004 and scored winning points that helped the European team clinch the title. At the Ryder Cup in 2010, Poulter was the top scorer in Europe with three points. He continued his impressive Ryder Cup form in 2012, as he extended his record by winning an important point against American golfer, Webb Simpson.

There was a time when Ian Poulter was ranked 5th in the world. This goes to show how great a golfer he is. He is renowned for his clothing and hairstyles that gained notoriety in 2004 majors.

Ian Poulter is known for having a passion for fashion. In 2007, he launched his clothing line. The same year he tied the knot his long-time girlfriend. Ian Poulter is an avid supporter of Arsenal Foot Club and traveled to Champions League Final in France in 2006.
