Bubba Watson is an American professional golfer. He is one of the few left handed golfers on the PGA tour. Bubba is a major championship winner and also the winner of the Masters Tournament in 2012.

Early Life

Bubba Watson was born on November 5th, 1978 in Bagdad, Florida. He grew up in there and his interest in golf developed at a very early age. His father decided to take him to a golf course for the very first time when he turned 6. The young golfer spent many years practicing in his yard every day.

Watson never had any formal lessons but he made an impressive showing as an amateur. He was named first-team junior college All-American when he played for the Faulkner State Community College. He later joined the University of Georgia where he played for the Bulldogs. He helped the team win the 2000 Southeastern Conference title.

Professional Career

In 2003, Bubba Watson turned professional. In 2005, he managed to finish 21st on Nationwide Tour’s money list. This allowed him to make it to the next PGA Tour. In 2006, as a rookie, he earned $1,019,264 and led the PGA Tour in average driving distance at 219.9 yards. In professional competition, his longest drive was 442 yards. Bubba also played in the 2007 U.S. Open.

In June, 2010, Watson claimed his very first PGA Tour in Cromwell, at the Travelers Championship. He tearfully dedicated this win to his beloved parents and especially his dad who was then battling cancer. He was also the runner-up at the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.

Just at the beginning of 2011, Bubba Watson won his 2nd PGA -Tour event: The Farmers Insurance Open. He finished one stroke ahead of Phil Mickelson. He managed to pick his 2nd win of 2011 season and his 3rd career PGA Tour title on the 1st of May. Bubba also took part in the Long Drive Contest for charity at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. He finished second, with the longest drive of about 370 yards behind Jamie Sadlowski’s drive of 400 yards.

In 2012, Bubba began with 3 top-5 finishes in 7 events; this included finishing second at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. His first major championship win was at the 2012 Masters Tournament.

Personal Life

Bubba Watson is married to his wife Angela and together they adopted a baby boy named Caleb. He also purchased a mansion in Florida; this house was actually previously owned by golfer Tiger Woods.
